In the same manner a spigot is lodged into a tree to tap sap from the trunk, the Cube Tap Library draws light inwards with a series of tubes piercing two rectangular rooms. This small exploration narrows in on how natural light affects the human experience, tying together sunpath calculations and emotional responses. Each tube channels optimal direct and indirect qualities of natural light into the library spaces. Vertical tubes diffuse skylight over working areas for natural light without glare. Inhabitable horizontal tubes catch the direct sunlight moving throughout the day, inviting visitors to recognize the passing of time through light and shadow.
